Colourcoats Set Royal Navy 1940-1943 Western Approaches Colourset

£6.50

Information
Sovereign Hobbies Colourcoats enamel paint set for Royal Navy Western Approaches schemes 1940-1943. This was used on many small ships including destroyers, corvettes, minesweepers and sloops.
Lt. Peter Scott had followed the works of American naturalist Thayer, and subscribed to Thayer's ideas about blending in to nature. Peter Scott Blue, sometimes called Western Approaches Blue, was introduced when Scott was recruited to assist with camouflage. Western Approaches schemes were intended to counter the U-Boat thread on North Atlantic convoys. The colours were very pale and intended to blend in with an overcast horizon in low-light. Decks would be dark grey. N.b. most Flower Class Corvettes had black underwater hulls,
Features 3 x 14ml tins of enamel paints matched to the originals including:
Disruptive pattern on vertical surfaces - NARN38 - Western Approaches Blue
Disruptive pattern on vertical surfaces - NARN39 - Western Approaches Green
Disruptive pattern on vertical surfaces - C03 - Matt White
